5 Superb Super Bowl Snacks
January 31, 2019
It’s time to set your watches to Eastern Standard Time and prepare for a late night. One of the world’s most-watched sporting events is back and it kicks off at 11.30pm (GMT) on 3rd February 2019. Get ready to dust off your stars and stripes, break out the red cups and enjoy a thoroughly red-blooded American spectacle – complete with a half-time performances from Maroon 5, Travis Scott and Atlanta local, Big Boi.
With so much sport and fanfare to power through, overseas viewers are going to need plenty of fuel to see them through all 3 hours and 44 minutes of entertainment (and that’s without overtime). To keep you powered up all the way through to the early hours, we’ve compiled some of our favourite Super Bowl recipes.
This year the Super Bowl takes place in Atlanta, Georgia. Local dive-thru venue Varsity is a true institution in the city (it’s been serving Atlantans for over 90 years) – and their chilli dogs must be tried to be believed. In honour of this year’s Super Bowl hosts, we’ve kicked off our Super Bowl party food selection with a tangy, tasty chilli dog recipe from The Cookie Rookie.
Dippable, munchable and all-round addictive, nachos served with a oozy, flavourful nacho dip are the ultimate Super Bowl snacks. There are thousands of nacho dip variations out there, so you can get as creative or as quick-and-easy as you like. We like this skillet nacho dip, which you can prepare and serve in one handy pan.
Much of red-blooded, all-American cuisine is exactly that – red-blooded. But there are plenty of ways you can incorporate American flavours and textures into veggie- and vegan-friendly Super Bowl recipes. We can’t get enough of this faux fried “chicken” recipe – cauliflower is the perfect texture and tastes fantastic with a spicy, crisp coating.
If the excitement on screen isn’t enough for you, why not heat up proceedings with these fiery, cheesy Super Bowl snacks. Surprisingly low-carb (but still full of naughty ingredients like cheese and bacon), these tasty snacks take a mere 25 minutes to whip up from start to finish.
Add some greenery to your Super Bowl platter with these delicious avocado fries, served with a creamy chipotle lime dip. Rolled in crispy panko breadcrumbs, these fries are full of tasty avocado goodness which is sure to surprise your guests. The dip really takes this recipe to the next level, adding tang, zing and a touch of fire to this pleasingly crisp-yet-gooey creation.
